How to Earn Farmers Union Youth Awards

Have fun attending camps, day classes to earn awards.

Junior Level Youth Awards - For Grades 1-6:

 

Sixth Grade Award
Earn a free day at a waterslide theme park for you and a friend.

  • Complete three (3) years of junior day classes prior to reaching 6th grade.
  • Attend one (1) junior camp prior to reaching 6th grade.
  • Trip is awarded the summer AFTER completing 6th grade.

Flicker Award
Earn a free "Flicker Award" T-shirt upon graduation from the junior level along with a gift card

  • Complete five (5) years of junior day classes
  • Attend one (1) year of junior camp
  • Award is received AFTER completion of above requirements

 

Senior Youth Awards for Grades 7-12:








Camp Kick-off:
Attend a lock-in at the state office in Jamestown. Meet the summer staff, eat lots of good food and have fun with friends from across the state.

  • Must be in 7th or 8th grade

Third Year Award Tour
Earn a free 3 day, 2 night trip to Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN.


All-States Camp - "Cream of the Crop" of Farmers Union Youth
Earn a free 7 day, 6 night stay at a leadership camp in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado

  • Complete four (4) years of senior day classes
  • Attend two (2) senior camps
  • Must be between the ages of 17-20 by June 1st
  • Trip is awarded the summer AFTER above requirements have been met

Be part of SYAC - State Youth Advisory Council:

SYAC members help plan the following year's state camp programming and activities. The council meets three times during the year and attends two senior camps the following summer at no cost. Five members are elected by their peers each summer. Each eligible person announces their desire to run for SYAC and gives a short speech at camp. The campers vote for their official representative.

  • Must attend senior summer camp after completing 10th or 11th grade
  • Must have completed three years of day class to be eligible
  • Must have attended two camps prior to running for SYAC

 

Torchbearer Award

Earn the highest award youth can achieve in North Dakota Farmers Union

  • Complete five (5) years of senior day classes
  • Attend one senior camp
  • Award is presented in November at the NDFU state convention following completion of above criteria

Each year scholarships are awarded to Farmers Union Torchbearers. In the fall, applications are sent from the state office directly to all eligible and qualifying Torchbearers.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Must be receiving Torchbearer award at the
    upcoming Farmers Union State Convention

  • Must have at least 2.50 grade point average

  • Must submit completed application and personal recommendations by specified date.
